Sszorak: who failed which mechanic

On Sszorak, LogSnitch checks 13 mechanics on Mythic (10 on Normal): 9 can charge a player with a mistake and 4 judge the tanks. Each is read pull by pull.

Which Sszorak mechanics count as mistakes?

Each of these charges the player who made the mistake, pull by pull. Counts follow Warcraft Logs': direct hits, not ticks (hits vs ticks).

What are the tanks judged on?

A tank buster is judged on whether a defensive or an external was up on each hit, counting only defensives that tank is seen pressing in the report. Stacks are judged only where the guide states a limit; otherwise how long each tank held them is shown.

What changes on Heroic and Mythic?

  • Caustic Claws is checked on Heroic and Mythic only: on an easier pull it never happens, so it is never judged there.
  • Serpent's Fury is checked on Mythic only: on an easier pull it never happens, so it is never judged there.
  • Virulence is checked on Mythic only: on an easier pull it never happens, so it is never judged there.

How does LogSnitch read Sszorak?

  • Venomous Surge: when the mark ends, a Viscous Cyst appears under whoever carried it. The room has 8 places for them, one per wind tunnel, spaced every 45° about the middle of the room: a drop within 11° of one of those directions and at least 26 yards out is on a spot. How far out is the raid's choice. A drop off every spot is charged, unless the mark came off early because its carrier died, or the wipe had been called. The log does not say which tunnel a cast was meant for, so any spot counts.
  • Raging Crosswinds: every marked player is meant to take one knock. An extra knock in that same instant, or a knock on someone without the mark, means a neighbour splashed onto them, and that is the mistake.
  • Turbulent Gusts: carriers must touch another carrier, and both lose it in the same instant. Carrying it without ever finding a partner is the mistake.
  • Mutilate while vulnerable: soaking Mutilate again while the Mutilated Gash from the last one is still on.
  • Ravage is the tank's frontal: only non-tanks hit by it are charged.
  • Tempest is never called a dispel in the guide, but raids dispel it all fight (197 times on one Mythic report we read), so it gets a dispel watcher of its own; a Poison Cleansing Totem's dispels count for its shaman.

Which mechanics are left out?

  • Howling Maelstrom: The winds push players and deal no damage; being blown off the platform shows as a death to Falling, on the Deaths card.
  • Ula'tek's Presence: Unavoidable damage — there is nothing the player could have done.

How do I check a pull of Sszorak myself?

Check it on Warcraft Logs

  1. Open the report on warcraftlogs.com and pick the pull.
  2. For a mechanic to avoid, open Damage Taken, select the ability and read each player's hits (the ticks are the cost).
  3. For a debuff to carry, pair or dispel, open Debuffs and the ability; for kicks, Interrupts; for who died to what, Deaths.
  4. Compare with LogSnitch's card for the mechanic: the same pull, the same players, the same counts, and a note wherever it deliberately differs.
